THE REAL THANKSGIVING

Like many of you, Thanksgiving Day is absolutely one of my favorite holidays. A time to be with relatives and friends while enjoying those wonderful smells that fill the household. A time to eat a lot of great food, watch football and reflect on things, which inevitability brings me to the realization how thankful I am to be an American.  A lot has transpired since October 3, 1789, when President Washington signed a declaration entitled “General Thanksgiving,” the decree appointed the day “to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God.” Then in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed, that on the 4th Thursday of November; “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens”.

With that in mind, I am offering you a little different aspect on Thanksgiving to consider and some great news as well!

The true story of this wonderful holiday has not been taught for quite a long time as we have allowed liberals to take charge of our schools and media. Thank God, (as he often did), that William Bradford, kept a diary (http://freedomkeys.com/ofplymouthplantation.htm) of the incredible feat that he a a few hardy soles accomplished. With this original document, we discover the complete truth of this incredible endeavor. For instance, did you know that the reason for the first (Plymouth Colony Pilgrim’s) Thanksgiving was a celebration of the triumph of private property and individual initiative and thanks to God?

But there is a wonderful and exciting addition out there that is bringing a bright light to the liberal’s lies of Thanksgiving; and boy does it have them fuming. In a fun form, children are learning the truth to the reason for the first Thanksgiving and the early beginnings of the freest nation in the history of the world.  I am speaking of the recently released book by Rush Limbaugh, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims. I per-ordered it and I have begun to read it. The only disappointment I can share with you all, is that I must put it down.
